Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) amplify and clarify sound by cutting down or eliminating ambient noise. Our ALDs transmit sound from a live microphone, directly to a set of headphones. CAPA offers headphones, or you can bring your own if you wish.

ALDs are available free-of-charge at all CAPA venues for all performances on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like an ALD, please ask an usher or house manager who will retrieve one for you.

  • A valid photo ID will be required if using an Assisted Listening Device.

ListenWIFI (formerly Listen Everywhere)

ListenWIFI (formerly Listen Everywhere), an assistive listening, mobile app, is now available to patrons in the Ohio Theatre, Palace Theatre, and Southern Theatre. Bring your own headphones or ear buds, download the free app, and stream live, high-quality audio directly to your cell phone that can be adjusted to your personal volume preference. Directions will be available throughout the Ohio Theatre, Palace Theatre, and Southern Theatre!

Audio Descriptions

Audio description is available for select performances in all CAPA theatres (Ohio, Palace, Southern, Lincoln, Riffe, McCoy, Drexel). Using a single earpiece, trained audio describers give live verbal descriptions of non-verbal parts of the show (actions, costumes, scenery and other visual elements on stage.)

Audio description begins with show notes 15 to 20 minutes prior to the start of the performance and requires an assistive listening device.

Headsets are available free-of-charge at all venues for all performances on a first-come, first-served basis. You are welcome to bring your own headphones if you prefer.

*Please request at least two weeks in advance

Sensory Concerns

The Ohio Theatre, Palace Theatre, Southern Theatre, Lincoln Theatre, Davidson Theatre, Studio Theatres, and the McCoy Center for the Arts have become certified with KultureCity, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting inclusivity and accessibility for individuals with sensory needs. This partnership includes newly-installed signage at CAPA venues to designate quiet areas, headphone zones, and sensory inclusive locations. Additionally, sensory bags, which include fidget tools, noise-cancelling headphones, and feeling thermometers, are available at all CAPA locations. Sensory bags are offered free-of-charge for all performances on a first-come, first-served basis. These sensory bags are meant for individuals of any age. For more information on KultureCity at CAPA venues, download the KultureCity app and search by venue name.

In addition, venues will make every effort to post signage on theatre entrances if shows have flashing, flicking, or strobing lights.

Service Dogs

Registered service animals are welcome in all the CAPA theatres and facilities. If you intend to bring a service animal to a performance, please notify your ticket representative at the time of purchase so that an aisle seat may be reserved for you.

Accessible Restrooms
